Mindfulness Coaching

What is Mindfulness Coaching?

Mindfulness coaching is a collaborative process focused on supporting individuals in applying mindfulness in their everyday life. Together we will investigate how mindfulness can support your wellbeing through meditative practices, techniques in daily life, and reflections. I meet my students where they are; no experience is necessary with mindfulness nor meditation.

How Mindfulness Coaching Can Help

Over the last decade, I have worked with countless individuals across the world. Together, we can work on various aspects of your life to bring mindfulness, presence, and awareness to them

Stress & Anxiety

Stress and anxious feelings impact many people. With mindfulness, we can address the experience, root causes, and steps to changing our relationship to these emotions.

Relationships

Learn to bring mindfulness to your relationships. Whether we work together as an individual or with your partner, we can cultivate mindful communication, healthier boundaries, and vulnerability.

Reactivity

Whether it is anger, fear, or sadness, reactivity can cause difficulties. With a mindfulness coach, you will learn techniques to pause before reacting and build healthier coping skills.

How Mindfulness Coaching Works

Mindfulness coaching sessions can look different between individuals. Some people want to focus more specifically on meditative practices, while others want to focus on relational mindfulness. Although every individual has unique needs and goals, here are a few general points about how coaching sessions work.

Discussion

The bulk of the session is discussion-based. We’ll cover your experience, identifying patterns and habits, and what is working for you.

Guided Practice

Sessions may begin or end with a guided mindfulness practice. This helps set the tone for the session, and can be a way to introduce a new technique or practice for you to take with you during the week.

Pragmatic Strategies

You will be offered personalized strategies for bringing mindfulness into your everday life. Whatever you’re dealing with, a coach can offer methods for appraoching life with mindfulness and compassion.

About Me

Hi! My name is Matthew, and more than anything I’m a meditator. Although mindfulness was first introduced to me as a young teenager, I didn’t really start meditating until years later. Since then I have studied in various traditions, including the Thai Forest Tradition, Vietnamese Zen, and Vipassana/Insight.

I trained to teach Insight Meditation at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, completing my training in 2018. Since then I have opened the One Mind Dharma center in Northern California, authored a bestselling book, and worked with individuals and couples around the world.

My passion lies in taking the ancient teachings of mindfulness and applying them to our modern lives. I’m a believer in the power of mindfulness and compassion not just in meditation, but when we take them off the cushion and into our everyday lives. When I’m not meditating or teaching, I spend my time with my children, surfing, or being outside however I can.
